Server rules

Below is a summary of rules you need to follow if you want to have an account on this server of Mastodon:

  1. This is mainly an English-only instance. We have nothing wrong with other languages, but we're unable to moderate languages we don't speak.
  2. Media containing spoilers, NSFW, or violent content must be marked as sensitive.
  3. No harassment or personal attacks. Remember: criticize ideas, not people!
  4. No promotion of hateful or harmful ideologies, scams, debunked conspiracy theories, or telling people to harm themselves.
  5. No doxxing or sharing personal information about other people without their consent.
  6. No illegal content.
  7. No impersonation or unofficial accounts.
  8. No bots or automated accounts unless you have explicit permission from staff.
  9. No spam or mass-messaging of people.

What is Mastodon?

Mastodon is social media, just like Twitter, however unlike Twitter (or other traditional social media), Mastodon is decentralized, meaning it's not controlled by a single party. Instead, Mastodon is part of the fediverse, a world-wide interconnected network of social media sites, called "instances".

Mastodon is federated, meaning that regardless of the instance you signed up at, you are freely able to communicate with users of other instances, similarly to how a user who chose to sign up at Gmail is still able to send e-mails to users who have signed up at a different e-mail provider, like Outlook or Protonmail.

Mastodon does not serve you any advertisements, and respects your privacy.

Posts on Mastodon are called "toots", and they show up in a chronological order, instead of using a proprietary black box algorithm to determine their order.

Mastodon is free as in freedom, and completely open-source.

Moderated servers

Mastodon generally allows you to view content from and interact with users from any other server in the fediverse. These are the exceptions that have been made on this particular server.

Limited servers

Posts from these servers will be hidden in public timelines and conversations, and no notifications will be generated from their users interactions, unless you are following them:

Suspended servers
